When TechStudio was founded in 2008 we made a deci­sion right from the begin­ning to ded­i­cate our­selves to the WordPress com­mu­nity. There were many good emerg­ing con­tent man­age­ment sys­tem at the time, but WordPress had a few fac­tors that made it the clear choice.

• WordPress is the most well-documented framework of its kind available for the LAMP architecture.
• It is completely open-source and GPL compliant.
• It's easy to use and highly capable. WordPress lets us offer more features to our clients for less, and lets our clients manage sites themselves.
• There is a humungous (and growing) community surrounding WordPress.
• WordPress lends itself to Search Engine Optimization techniques right out of the box. This means a lot to us and our customers who are trying to make themselves visible on the web.

Now that over three years have gone by, it couldn’t be more clear that bas­ing TechStudio on WordPress was the right deci­sion. It allows us to offer web sites that our cus­tomers can man­age. It allows us to answer ‘yes’ when our clients ask us to make their web site per­form func­tions that help them do busi­ness on the web.

We Create Plugins

As we build one site after another for our clients, we’ve begun to notice some recur­ring themes among the requests for dynamic func­tion­al­ity. There were tasks that we were per­form­ing over and over that needed automa­tion to increase effi­ciency. We decided to start cre­at­ing plu­g­ins that we knew were use­ful to every web site we cre­ated. Many of these plu­g­ins are not only use­ful for us, but they are use­ful to other devel­op­ers and community-members who man­age their own sites. TechStudio plu­g­ins are GPL2 com­pli­ant, part of the WordPress Extend sys­tem and open to the WordPress com­mu­nity. Some of our plu­g­ins have pre­mium fea­tures or hosted options which can be pur­chased right here on the site.

Some func­tions that many of our sites need to per­form are being ser­viced well by plu­g­ins writ­ten by other mem­bers of the WordPress com­mu­nity. We make an effort to rec­og­nize those plu­g­ins and sup­port those who cre­ate and play our part in main­tain­ing them. In an ongo­ing effort to sup­port the WordPress com­mu­nity, we are cre­at­ing bud­gets in all our projects for plu­gin sup­port. Funds will be set aside for the plu­g­ins our clients ben­e­fit from in order to sup­port their con­tin­ued main­te­nance and growth.
